Widnes Vikings release fans’ favourite Mark Smith

WIDNES Vikings fans’ favourite Mark Smith is to leave the club at the end of the season.

Smith, who has spent six years with the Vikings since signing from Wigan in 2004, is one of four players to be released by the club.

The 29-year-old hooker has been linked with a number of Super League clubs and speculation about his future has been rife since Dave Allen was named as the new club captain earlier in the season.
