Widnes Vikings: Cullen excited by new additions

ANTICIPATION of the new Vikings season went into overdrive this week as the club revealed its three latest additions writes Paul Glynn.

Young St Helens star and former loanee Chris Dean has been confirmed as the first of a possible four dual-registration/loan signings for next season.

Another former Saint Tommy Martyn has also joined the club on a part-time basis in order to lend a hand with the kicking coaching duties, as Vikings up their search for a goal-kicker in-house after failing to land Ste Tyrer.

And finally Widnes’s new all white strip made its first public appearance at the club’s pre-season squad night at the Stobart Stadium on Tuesday.

Head coach Paul Cullen said: “Chris Dean will add competition in our backline, which will be much improved.

“The Widnes pack also excites me this year.

“We now have a more efficient, less high maintenance squad with higher yield that will win us the Northern Rail Cup and take us to the Grand Final.”
