Back injury means former Widnes Vikings player Dave Allen could miss return to Stobart Stadium Halton with Oldham’s Roughyeds

FORMER Widnes ace Dave Allen is a serious injury doubt for Oldham coach Tony Benson ahead of tomorrow’s Northern Rail Cup game against the Vikings at Stobart Stadium Halton.

The Roughyeds’ Gary Sykes (knee) and Allen (back) are expected to miss the game, although Allen could make a late bid for inclusion in the squad.

Richard Mervill is also unavailable for the visitors because of work commitments.

Coach Benson said: “This is a game we’re excited about. “The higher level of team you play, the more of a challenge it is.

“It should excite the players, but we’re more pleased just to be getting a hit out at this stage, regardless of who it’s against.”
