French signing set for Featherstone

WIDNES’ new French loan signing Adel Fellous arrived in the UK at lunchtime today.

He will train with his new team-mates tomorrow before joining the squad for Sunday’s trip to Featherstone.

The rugged 30-year-old French international forward joins for a month, having had a spell in Super League this season with Hull FC.

He has also played for Toulouse, Catalans Dragons and Pia.

A seasoned campaigner for his country, Fellous is a solid and reliable option in the pack.

He is usually used in the front row but is also equally adept in the back row.

Vikings’ injury-hit head coach Steve McCormack said: “Adel will give us size and mobility in the forwards as we enter a tough month in the Co-operative National League.

“He has a lot of experience and will help to strengthen the pack in the absence of Sam Barlow, Tommy Gallagher and Paul Noone.”

Widnes have also signed 16-year-old Tom Kelly from Wigan St Patrick’s after his man-of-the-match performance in the National U16s Cup final.
