WIDNES Vikings’ new Dream Ticket lottery kicks off this month with the first winners of the £100 weekday draw being announced on Friday, May 16.
Friday, June 13 promises to prove lucky for one fan as that’s when the first £1,000 monthly draw winner will be revealed.
So far, hundreds of supporters have signed up to the Dream Ticket lottery, spending just £2 each week to qualify for entry into a series of draws, including the biggest annual prize in the club’s history – the £10,000 Dream Jackpot.
In addition, fans can win a host of non-cash prizes including VIP match-day experiences, spending a training day and lunch with the players or naming one of the famous Eddie Stobart trucks.
Lottery promoter Ian Lisle says it is a critical part of Vikings’ fundraising activities to support the club’s bid for a Super League licence.
He said: “All the big players in Super League have highly-successful lotteries that generate funds to help cover their operating costs.
“Clubs such as Leeds and St Helens have thousands of members contributing each week and at Widnes our aim is to develop a lottery that gives Vikings’ fans the same opportunity to support their club – and stand a chance of winning big cash prizes.”
Supporters wishing to sign up for Dream Ticket lottery membership should visit Vikings’ website – www.widnesvikings.co.uk – and click on the Dream Ticket section.
They can pay through direct debits and standing orders or by credit cards or cheque.
The lottery operates all year round with numbers entering a minimum of 273 cash draws during the year, giving players plenty of opportunities to win.
Lisle added: “Lotteries play a vital role in the funding of rugby league teams and we hope that many more of our fans will be encouraged to join up.
“Ultimately we hope this will become a major income stream for the club which will help us to strengthen our team and facilities which will benefit all our supporters.”
The weekday draws will be announced each Friday with the first numbers published on Friday, May 16 relating to draws for each weekday from Monday, May 12.
The monthly £1,000 draw will be announced on the nearest Friday to the 16th of each month.
The £10,000 Dream Jackpot draw will be made in May 2009 and Vikings hope to coincide the draw with Super League Millennium Magic weekend.
The winner could receive their prize on the pitch at Cardiff.
Details of Dream Ticket prize winners will appear in the local press, matchday programmes and on the Widnes Vikings website.
