Precious prize for Cup amateurs Skirlaugh

WIDNES Vikings will enter this season’s Carnegie Challenge Cup with a home tie against amateur opposition.

They have been paired with the National Conference League’s third-placed Premier Division side Skirlaugh in the third round.

Skirlaugh won through to a priceless crack at Steve McCormack’s National League Division One full-time professionals, thanks to the boot of Jordan Precious.

The full-back’s five goals earned the Hull-based minnows a 19-14 derby derby victory at Hull Dockers, who scored three tries to the victorious visitors’ two.

Ties are scheduled for Saturday, March 8 or Sunday, March 9.
