Vikings out to spoil Cassidy’s return

VIKINGS' boss Steve McCormack will not be doing former Widnes favourite Mick Cassidy any favours when the Barrow assistant coach returns to Stobart Stadium Halton this Sunday.

McCormack said: “I'm looking forward to catching up with Mick, who's doing a great job for Barrow, but we're looking to get back to winning ways.

“We we're very proud of the effort of the young players on display against Leigh and we are look forward to seeing a repeat this weekend.”

Barrow boss Dave Clark says his side are moving in the right direction after their opening two Northern Rail Cup fixtures.

Raiders posted their first win on Sunday, defeating Blackpool Panthers 28-20 at home.

Clark said: “Our side is improving in terms of our game plan. We've just got to be a bit more consistent and patient and things will happen for us.

“This will be a tough challenge for us. Mentally and physically, we'll have to be up for the game and we'll have to improve from our Blackpool performance.”
