Ostick signs contract extension

FRONT rower Michael Ostick has penned a contract to keep him at the Vikings for two more years.

The 19-year-old forward is a product of the Vikings’ World Class Scholarship Programme and the one-time Widnes St Marie’s Youth Player is delighted to get a chance to further his career at Widnes.

‘It’s always been my ambition to play for Widnes and ever since I joined the scholarship, I’ve worked for this.

‘My immediate aim is to help the Senior Academy side reach this year’s Grand Final but in the long term I want to play for the Vikings in Super League.’

Head coach Steve McCormack said: ‘Michael is a tough tackling prop forward, who never takes a backward step.’

Both Vikings’ Academy sides are in action this Saturday.

The Senior Academy entertain Dewsbury Rams at Heath Road (noon kick-off) in their Elimination semi-final.

The Juniors travel to Castleford for their corresponding fixture, ko 2.30pm.

Widnes Vikings Supporters Club’s Player of the Year Awards are at Halton Stadium tomorrow (7.30pm).

There are a limited number of tickets, priced £9, available as players of all three teams receive recognition for their efforts throughout the season.

These are available from the Vikings’ Club Shop or from Alan Rae on 07837 283634.

The Supporters Club’s Grand Autumn Raffle takes place on the night and any outstanding raffle tickets should be returned to the club shop by tomorrow morning.
