WADE Deacon's hopes of national glory were shot down in the Year 8 boys' final at RAF Uxbridge on the eve of the Challenge Cup final.
Castleford High claimed their third triumph in Carnegie Champion Schools finals with a ruthless defeat of the Widnes school.
Castleford led 10-0 at half time and did enough to grab the trophy, despite coming under increasing pressure after the interval.
Strong running from Wade Deacon's pack had given them an early platform but Castleford held out and replied with a double blow just before the break.
Liam Lunn, Gareth Kirk and Bradley Williamson combined to create enough space for Kyran Johnson to open the scoring.
Then Lunn barged through himself with a double side-step to push Castleford further ahead.
George Marchant's superb pass put Williamson clear after the restart before Jordan Gill came in off the wing to wrap up Castleford's victory.
Kieran Conroy grabbed Wade Deacon's only score from Alex Clare's break.
Castleford captain Marchant received the trophy from Australian Test legend Darren Lock yer.
