Ace steps up charity efforts
VIKINGS Scottish international forward Richard Fletcher has been putting his best foot forward during the off-season to help raise funds for a worthy cause.
Fletcher took part in a charity walk to raise money for the Steve Prescott Foundation and The Christie hospital in Manchester.
Former Saints full-back and cancer sufferer Prescott, whose father Eric played for Widnes, carried the engage Super League Grand Final matchball 246 miles from Hull to Old Trafford via a number of rugby league grounds, including Widnes.
Accompanying Prescott from St Helens to Widnes on Thursday were 120 people, including Fletcher, former Saints favourites Tommy Martyn and Anthony Sullivan, as well as Vikings’ accounts clerk Alison Quinn.
