Mar 15 2012 Runcorn and Widnes Weekly News
THE big game in the first division of the Halton Table Tennis League this week saw the top two play each other and it was perennial champions Fords A who came out on top with trebles from Mal McEvoy and Rob Hughes. Fords B may have left their charge a bit too late to get the runners up spot but they picked up wins over Farnworth A and Runcorn A, Mark Barnes and Rob Goldson remaining unbeaten.
Sutton A had trebles from Peter Findlater and Howard Flint in their win at Halton B, and they could yet come into the reckoning for the runners up spot.
Daresbury A picked up useful points to keep out of the relegation battle with a win over Sutton B and a draw at Farnworth A, John Hughes and Fiona Dennett scoring trebles for them, and Andrew Beswick for Farnworth.
In the second division Widnes RUC IV had trebles from Jordan Abbott and David Yousiff in their defeat of Halton C.
