WITH only two weeks of league fixtures of the season remaining, three of the four section titles are still up for grabs.
Albion lost their chance of making certain of the Section One crown when they lost only their second match of the season when going down 5-4 to second placed Halfway Gents.
Navvy Swamps slipped from third to fourth after losing 6-3 to Tricorn with the winners’ Tony Roberts finishing in 18 darts which included a maximum.
A 6-3 win against bottom team Doo Waps enabled Jolly Brewers to move up to third place.
Navvy Lads remain next to bottom after losing 5-4 to Clarry B.
RSC and Beechwood remain level on points at the top of Section Three after the former beat the Navigation 7-2 and Beechwoods 6-3 win against Pavilions included a 19-dart game from Matt Booth.
The looks a strong possibility that this section title will be decided on the last fixture of the season when the top two teams meet each other.
Halton Marauders were able to move ahead of Pavilions into third place after beating Quayside 6-3.
This match produced finishes of 120 from the winners’ John Bennett and a 105 from Quayside’s Mike Bishton.
Halfway Mixed in fourth place remain level on points with both Halton Marauders and Pavilions after beating Dreadnoughts 6-3.
Castle’s Mike Crosset hit a maximum but his team remain languishing at the foot of the table after losing 6-3 to next to bottom Grapes.
There was no change at the top of Section Four with 6-3 wins for both leaders Railway Sleepers and Barley Mowners who beat Vineyard and Cherry Tree respectively.
Cherry Tree were 3-0 up at one stage but a shortage of players did not help their cause.
Cherry Mixed and Quarrymen exchanged places in third and fourth after the former won the clash between the teams 7-2.
Royal Oak’s Darren Brownlow produced the quickest game of the night with 17 darts but his team went on to lose 7-2 to Wine Bar.
In Section Two, John Goodwin hit a maximum in helping champions Roundhouse to a 6-3 win against Wanderers.
Flying Wickets are strong favourites to take the runners-up spot after an 18-dart game from Mark Hughes helped his team to a 5-4 win against bottom team Outcasts.
Union Tavern slipped from third to sixth place after losing 5-4 to Addy Lads with the winners moving up to third.
A 6-3 win against Croft has enabled Prospect Has Beens to move up to fourth with Fiddlers for whom Rob Warbrick had a 19-dart game in the fifth after beating next to bottom The Lads 5-4.
A shock looked on the cards in the third round of the Best Sports Cup when a maximum from Brian Allen helped Section Three team RSC to go into a 3-0 lead against Section One opponents Navvy Swamps but the latter responded to run out 6-3 winners.
Dev Superstars and Navvy Lads progressed to the semi-final stages when they beat Clarry B 5-4 and Jolly Brewer 5-4.
Unfortunately Wanderers could not raise a team resulting in Albion getting a bye into the semi-finals.
