Widnes Darts League latest

IN the Widnes and District Darts League Monday night saw the Cheshire Roof Trusses 501 League, round 11 played.

Widnes RUFC at home to the Eight Towers started badly as Eight Towers took the first three games through Joe Bamber, Chris Walsh and Chris Hall. The Wids recovered a point through their opening pair, John Leather and Dave Smith with a 16 dart display.

Eight Towers, however, were on a roll and proceeded to take the next three games through Dave Powell and Chris Hall, Chris Walsh and Joe Bamber and Gareth Bason.

Bob Smith took the penultimate game for the Wids, whilst David Powell took the final game and the match.

Widnes Bowling Club, at home to Halton Stadium, didn’t stand a chance as Halton Stadium brought home the first six games.

Winners were Terry Roach, Joe Batty, Phil Corless, Joe Batty and Alan Magee, John Bowles and John Bramald and Joe Price and Kenny Murphy. Bowling Club’s M Smith then put his team on the scoresheet, only to see Halton Stadium carry on the rout as they took the remaining two games and the match through John Bramald (17 darts) and Joe Price.

The Sundowner St Marie's at home to Main Top conceded the first two games to Main Top’s R Caldwell and P Bennett. Karl Whitfield put Sundowner on the scoresheet, but that’s when it all went wrong for the Sundowner as Main Top took all the remaining six games and the match through T Gerrard and R Caldwell, M Yates and K Yeomans, P Bennett and R Cowley, M Yates (18 darts and a 156 finish), R Cowley who’s opponent Anthony Hall hit a 180 and K Yeomans.

RAOB, at home to the Majors Arms, saw Majors Arms take the first game through, Matty Welding. The Buffs responded with three in a row through Ray Dutton, Ged McPartland and opening pair Damian Eustace and Adam Mellor. The Majors fought back, taking two in a row through, R Greylish and D Greylish and Nicky Duff and Luke Carey to level the scores. With a further win apiece from the Buffs’ Adam Mellor and the Majors’ Luke Carey parity remained, with only the final game to go, the outcome was decided as Nicky Duff took the game and the match for the Majors Arms.

Friday Night saw the Alan Knowles Memorial Shield played.

At Mill Brow SC, Paul Black went straight through to round two, but it was Andy Atkin who took the win 2-0, whilst Terry Roach won 2-1 with a 14 dart display. In round three Terry Roach took the match 2-1.

At Halton Stadium, Mark Harrison took round one in two straight legs. In round two D Powell took the match wining 2-0, including an 18 and 16 dart display. R Greylish also went through to the next round in two straight legs. In Round Three D Powell took the match in two straight legs.

At RAOB, Ged McPartland took round one in two straight legs, including a 12 darter. In round two, he pulled off a double, with a 2-0 win again, including an 18 dart display.

At the Corpy Club, Alan Friar took round one in two straight legs. He did the same in round two, whilst S Lowe won 2-1. In Round Three S Lowe took the match, wining 2-1.

At the Millfield it went straight through to round two with Ian Argent in two straight legs and Adam Mellor in 2-1. In round three Adam Mellor took the match in two straight legs.

At The Ball, In round one Carl Bryan went straight through to Round Two, which saw Brian Dutton win 2-0 with a 13 dart display. Phil Corless also won, two games to one.

At the Crows Nest, Danny McPartland took round one. In Round Two he went straight through to the next Round on a no show, whilst Ian Bason took Round Three in two straight legs.
