Football: Town look to extend lead at top of West Cheshire League

RUNCORN Town will be aiming to extend their lead at the top of the West Cheshire League on Saturday.

The Division One pacesetters are six points clear of closest rivals Heswall having played two games more than the Wirral side.

But like many sides in the region, Town have been left kicking their heels over the past week after Saturday’s match at home to West Kirby in the President’s Cup was postponed and Tuesday’s derby match against Helsby was also called off due to the frozen ground.

Marine Reserves are due to visit Pavilions on Saturday (3pm) with Castrol Social also scheduled to travel for Wednesday’s league encounter (7.30pm)

The Pyke Cup clash between Runcorn Town and West Kirby will now take place on Wednesday, March 17 (kick-off 7.30pm). As a result, the Runcorn & District FA Cup semi-final clash with Halton has been moved back a week until Wednesday, March 24 (7pm).
