RED Lion A defeated Tigers Head A to extend their lead in Frodsham & District Bowling League.
Ken Whitby won 21-4 for the Section One tabletoppers while second-placed Goshawk A slipped up by one chalk to Kingswood B despite Fred Worrall’s 21-3. Grapes Inn A’s easy victory over lowly visitors Castle Park – featuring Lee Dobson’s 21-4 and a 21-6 by Pat Crowe – leaves them still in third.
Halton RBL A (Mike Egerton 21-4, Bob Watson 21-8) consolidated their pole position in Division Two with a comfortable defeat of guests Goshawk B. Pavilions B (Mike Ainsworth 21-8) won at Manley A (Brian Cox 21-8). But Grapes Inn B, in third, lost at Subscription B (Joe Naylor, Mark Clein both 21-6).
Stan Berrington and sister Ann Spence starred with 21-5 wins as Castle Park B beat Willow Brook A.
Section Three’s Cons Club A lost top spot when crashing at Kingswood A with Kingsley A now leading although they were also beaten – at Cons Club B.
Ed Carter (21-8) and Dave Manley (21-9) were on form for Cons Club B while Kingswood A’s Gordon Brown and Mike Foster both won 21-5 and
Alan Rimmer 21-7.
Fourth-placed Runcorn Hill were sunk at lowly Rock Park Tavern (Barry Hopley 21-7).
Hazel Pear stretched their Division Four lead in victory at Egerton B.
