RED Lion A are looking over their shoulders, despite holding an early lead in Frodsham & District Bowling League’s Division One.
The Lion won at Helsby D, Barry Ellams starring, but have Goshawk A right behind them after the whitewashing of newly-promoted Norton Arms B. Grapes A (Keith Taylor 21-1, Bob Johnston 21-4) lie a close third following their home demolition of Tiger’s Head A.
Castle Park A had a good victory in a high-scoring game at Helsby B while there were home wins for Pavilions A (Dave Barrow 21-5) against Chetwode A and Red Lion B over Kingswood A.
Division Two is headed by Pavilions B, who were comfortable winners at War Memorial B partly thanks to Kevin Looker’s 21-6. Giving chase, Willow Brook A had a 21-8 from Percy Burton in a full house at Ivy Street against Grapes B.
Egerton A (Phil Lawson 21-5) are up to third following the defeat of visiting Goshawk B.
Division Three pacesetters Cons Club A were involved in a draw at second-placed Pavilions D, both sides scoring well.
