ALLYN Condon will be on World Cup bobsleigh duty for Great Britain when the series gets under way this weekend.
The opening event is in the German city of Winterberg with Saturday and Sunday racing throughout in the series being televised ‘live’ on Eurosport 2.
Former summer Olympian Condon and team-mates in the four-man bob warmed up by winning the British Bobsleigh Championships in Italy.
Condon was joined by driver Lee Johnston, a three-times Olympian, Karl Johnston and Julian Hughes John for an easy victory after the fastest ever start by a British team in Cesana.
Condon, who grew up in Castlefields is coached by his dad Morris, an Olympic sprint coach who still lives in Runcorn.
Also under Condon Snr’s wing is Daniel Money who partnered driver Lee Johnston for the two-man which smashed the rest of the field in the British championships – winning by 1.6 sec.
All five bobsleighers are now gearing up for the World Cup – as GB’s only representatives this year.
They will also represent Britain at the next world Championships and the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Condon and Mancunian Money, both now based in Stockton Heath, are also members at Sale Harriers Athletics Club, where they still base a lot of their training.
