Sell-out crowds enjoy Wizard Of Oz stage show at The Heath in Runcorn

TALENTED young actors dazzled packed audiences at a Runcorn school with their take on a classic tale.

The Heath Technology College opened its doors to parents, friends and students to enter the land of The Wizard of Oz with a matinee show for eight primary schools and a three-night run of sell-out shows.

Luca Gittens, Year 9, starred as Dorothy, even managing to handle Toto the dog played by Pip the show-stealing Jack Russell.

Abbie Weston, Year 10, terrified as the Wicked Witch, while Elizabeth Healey, Year 11, stole hearts as the Cowardly Lion.

Niall Leigh, Ronnie Ayres and Megan Holland, all Year 9, filled the roles for the rest of the main cast and delivered performances that showed off their talents.

Weston Primary School students also made an appearance as Munchkins, wowing audiences with their rendition of The Merry Old Land of Oz.

Kirsty Lowe, of The Heath, said: “The set was commented on by all because the art department along with Year 8 students created everything from Munchkin houses to Emerald City gates.

“As performing arts continues to thrive at The Heath there was only one question as audiences left, what to take on next year?

“The school would like to thank everyone who came to support.”
