YOUNG children from a school in Widnes have helped raise enough money to provide uniforms for a school and orphanage in Uganda.
Pupils and staff at Fairfield Infant School made a DVD of children’s photographs and sold them to parents at last year’s Year 2 leavers’ assembly.
About £100 was raised and was sent to the Bunyagira School And Orphanage in Uganda, Africa, via St John’s Church on Fairfield Road.
The money was used to buy fabric for staff at the school to make uniforms for eight girls and eight boys.
Paula Goulding, a teacher at Fairfield, said: “We were thrilled to have received some lovely photographs of the children wearing their new uniforms and thanking us.
“Many thanks to all parents and carers who purchased the DVDs. We are sure they will enjoy seeing how well their money was used for this humble and worthy cause.
“We are hoping to run a similar call in July.”
