TO CELEBRATE the 50th anniversary of their first hit single Sherry, American pop music legendsFrankie Valli And The Four Seasons will perform at the Manchester Arena this summer.
Formed in New Jersey in 1955 by falsetto lead singer Frankie Valli, the group scored their first number one in the summer of 1962 with Sherry.
One of the few Stateside groups whose reign of hits was uninterrupted by The Beatles and the ‘British invasion’, Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons went on to enjoy a series of hit singles including Bye Bye Baby (Baby Goodbye), Walk Like A Man, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Working My Way Back To You and the disco classic December, 1963 (Oh, What A Night!).
The group was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall Of Fame in 1990 and the Vocal Hall Of Fame in 1999.
More recently, the life and times of Frankie and his legendary group became the basis for the award-winning Broadway and West End musical Jersey Boys.
Frankie himself also successfully turned his hand to acting, starring as New York Mafia capo Rusty Millio in one of New Jersey’s other famous exports, HBO’s iconic TV show The Sopranos, where he was gunned down on screen as part of a power struggle with a rival faction of the fictional Lupertazzi crime family led by John ‘Johnny Sack’ Sacramoni.
