Runcorn Wrestling Academy to nurture group’s future talent

RUNCORN Wrestling Academy (RWA) has clinched a deal to train fighters for a major group on the UK circuit.

RWA will hone the physiques and thrill-making skills and of Britannia Wrestling Promotions (BWP).

The Wales-based group announced the deal ahead of an appearance by BWP’s owner and founder Steve Saxon at the Runcorn institution.

Mr Saxon said he was impressed with the Grangeway-based club’s set-up and ability to produce a stable of wrestlers such as its current champion Craig Winters.

Mr Saxon will be at RWA for the club’s Night Of Memories VII on February 4, when he will host a rumble among Runcorn competitors.

The winner will clinch a place in BWP’s rookie division and chance to progress to higher leagues.

Steve Saxon, BWP owner and founder, said: “It gives me great pleasure to announce that Runcorn Wrestling Academy is now our official training partner.

“This deal allows for greater growth for some of the talent of the British wrestling circuit, growth that previous RWA trainees have taken advantage of and have gone onto not only headlining Britannia, but working for some of the other reputable companies around today. We have had a positive and informal working relationship with RWA for more than two years but now we can work together on a more professional level.”

RWA’s Night Of Memories VII is at Grangeway Community Centre on February 4. Doors open at 6.30pm with the action starting at 7.10pm.

Tickets are £5 adults, £4 for children, concessions and students. Those who arrive before 6.45pm receive a £1 discount. For more information visit www.rwawrestling.co.uk
