Bottle thrown from car injures dog in Hale Road, Widnes

A DOG hit by a bottle thrown from a car in Widnes is “lucky to be alive” say vets.

The pet was with its 17-year-old owner when the attack happened on Hale Road at 1am on Tuesday.

They were returning home from a take-away when a black car, possibly a Vauxhall Corsa, sped past them.

The teenager then heard glass smashing.

Police said the owner rushed the wounded dog to a vet, who treated three serious head injuries.

The vet said it had “lost a pint of blood and is lucky to be alive”.

Cheshire police said the owner was “extremely distressed” and could have suffered serious injuries himself had the bottle struck him.

Any witnesses and anyone who can identify the car occupants should call Widnes police on 0845 458 0000 or leave information anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
