MORE than 400 Halton pupils received advice from police and firefighters at a recent child safety event at Victoria Park in Widnes.
The children learned about a variety of issues, including road and fire safety and the importance of staying safe, avoiding strangers and telling adults were they are going and for how long.
The youngsters were given goodie bags to take away, containing activities and quizzes to help to drive the message home.
Inspector Sharon Case, of Widnes NPU, said: “Events like this are a vital part of our work in the local community.
“This latest event gave us the chance to join together with some of our partners in the community to reinforce those key messages.
“The youngsters really enjoyed the day and will take away some valuable advice and information.”
The week was organised by the Child Accident Prevention Trust and there were fire appliances and a face painter at the event.
Sean Henshaw, Halton group manager for Cheshire Fire Service said: “I would like to thank everyone who came along to our event at Victoria Park which was a great success.
“It’s important that we continually speak to children and parents about fire safety to help them stay safer together.”
