Eric Hudson of Halton Chamber of Commerce launches drive for new members

BUSINESSES are being encouraged to fight their way out of the recession together by taking up half-price membership with the Halton Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber is launching a major recruitment drive this month with memberships being offered at 50% discount throughout July.

The “membership month” kickstarts with a breakfast networking event on Tuesday, July 7 at The Heath Business and Technical Park’s restaurant, Runcorn, starting at 7.45am.

The chamber already boasts 300 members, but Eric Hudson, its executive vice-chairman, said a larger membership could create more prosperity and jobs.

He said: “Economic experts are widely agreed that the only way out of the current recession is to support small and medium-sized businesses to succeed and expand.

“Halton Chamber exists to help companies prosper and although we have an expanding membership, it still only represents 20% of Halton’s business community.

“With a larger membership, the chamber could be even more active in supporting local companies to grow and create jobs.”

The breakfast events costs £10 for non-members and will take place on the first Tuesday of every month.

Discounted half yearly membership of the chamber is available from £32.50.
