Friends of Chernobyl’s Schoolchildren thank St Michael’s Catholic Primary School, Widnes, following visit

A GROUP of children from radiationscarred Chernobyl have thanked Widnes pupils for their hospitality.

St Michael’s Catholic Primary welcomed a group of 16 pupils from the blighted region of the Ukraine.

The visit was arranged by the Friends of Chernobyl’s Children charity.

Paul Loughran, deputy head at St Michael’s, said: “We hosted a fun run last month to raise sponsorship for one of the Chernobyl children to visit.

“The day itself was a great success, we had a magician and all the children mixed well and played a game of football.

“The visitors sent us a letter thanking us and saying what a great time they’d had.”
