THE MAJOR part played by Runcorn in the history of the Freemasons drew a special visitor to the town on Tuesday.
Dr David Harrison dropped in to The Curiosity Bookshop in Runcorn’s Old Town to sign copies of his book, entitled The Genesis of Freemasonry.
The work details what Dr Harrison called Runcorn’s ‘unique footprint’ on the history of the society.
It also cites The Masonic pub as one of the earliest meeting places used by the organisation in the 1860s.
Lord De Tabley, a famous 19th century aristocrat involved in the Masons’ is also featured in Dr Harrison’s book.
