Protestors claim Mersey Gateway chiefs wrongly named the Weston Link as Lodge Lane Junction in project plans

A RUNCORN resident claims sections of the town are unaware of the changes set to be brought by the Mersey Gateway Project due to the ‘misnaming’ of roads on consultation documents.

Mark McLoughlin claims the area shown as Lodge Lane junction on plans submitted by gateway project chiefs was in fact the Weston Link.

And he said people living close to the area will be unaware of the road changes which could be coming their way.

He said: “The Weston Link part of the Central Expressway has been misnamed in all of the so-called consultative literature.

“Lodge Lane residents complained to the council about the proposals for the route to the gateway and they were told it was nowhere near them – which it isn’t.

“The proposal was actually by Hallwood Park, Beechwood and Halton Lodge estates.”

A Mersey Gateway spokesman said: “The highways and junctions are given names on the plans which are consistent with the designations set out by Halton Council’s highways, transportation and logistics department.

“These designations have been agreed with agencies such as the emergency services to ensure clarity.”
