Proposed bridge tolls revealed at Mersey Gateway public inquiry

THE potential cost of crossing the Mersey should the second bridge project go ahead has been revealed.

The costs appeared in a Mersey Gateway (MG) team document submitted by Alan Pauling, MG transport planner. The figures are basic costs and do not take discounts into account.

The document said that for each crossing moped and motorbike riders will pay between £0-2.50, car and small van drivers will pay £1.40-2.50, small goods vans and small coaches will pay between £2-£5, and for large goods vehicles and coaches the cost will be £4-£10.

The bridge tolls are expected to rise by 1% plus inflation each year.
