Martin Ramsden of Runcorn's Warrington Road Action Group says more protests are planned

A PROTEST group which opposes changes to the Central Expressway in Runcorn is planning further demonstrations.

Members of Warrington Road Action group said they will be staging protests outside the public inquiry at the Stobart Stadium next week.

The group will also be cross-examining members of the Mersey Gateway team.

Spokesman Martin Ramsden said: “We’re having a meeting this week to discuss what we’re going to be doing.

“Anyone who wants to is welcome to come along and join in our protests.”

The group is opposed to changes to the Central Expressway and want an alternative route to pass through the Astmoor, Daresbury A558 and Weston Expressways.

The Weekly News reported last week how the group had seen an upsurge in support. Membership had shot up from little more than a dozen to 50. The group’s website is www.merseycrossing.webs.com.
