Mother’s plea for return of stolen car
A DISTRAUGHT Widnes mother is hoping thieves will return her car, which she needs to visit her sick new-born baby.
Lyndsey Byrne, of Cherry Sutton, Widnes, said she turned her back for a few seconds at about 8.40am on Monday morning and a thief drove off in her car leaving her and her two children stranded.
She had gone to the car, put the keys in, then turned around to grab her six-year-old daughter who had run back to the house. The car, a black Ford Fiesta Zetec, reg. MF55 GLKV, was gone when she returned.
Lyndsey needs the car to visit Harry Brunsitt, her 11-week-old son, who has been in Alder Hey for five weeks with breathing difficulties.
Lyndsey and Gillian Cowan, her mother, are upset because they are now unable to get to the hospital.
Gillian said: “We’ve realised that a car is a piece of metal, but the value is getting to hospital.
“Some people just don’t realise what they’re doing and how it affects people.
“I’m 85% hopeful that someone may have seen something or that once the thieves find out what we need it for they might return it.
“I’m feeling sick. I literally turned around for a couple of seconds and heard the car door go.
“The most sickening thing is I need the car to visit my baby who’s in Alder Hey, as well as doing the school run.”
Anyone with information about the theft should call Widnes police on 0845 4580000.
