Disabled man hit by hoodie raiders

A DISABLED Widnes man was attacked in his home by hooded thugs wielding baseball bats.

Jeffrey Claydon, 56, managed to prevent the intruders from entering his house on Abbey Road by jamming the back door shut as they approached from his garden.

Mr Claydon did not suffer any serious injuries in the attack and police are investigating.

Mr Claydon said: “I was at home alone watching the telly when I heard them try to burst through the back door. I got up to stop them from getting in and was struck with a baseball bat by one of two young men before they ran off.”

He added: “These people are scum and I hope the police find them.”

A police spokesman said: “We can confirm we are investigating the incident and have found a white baseball bat within the grounds of the property, and it has been sent to forensics for testing.

“The two offenders were male and dressed in black hoodies.”
