Crackdown on driving offenders
THE consequences of committing driving offences have been hammered home to Runcorn motorists during a campaign run by Cheshire police and fire service.
The initiative, in High Street, Runcorn, saw motorists being stopped for offences including failing to wear seatbelts, using phones behind the wheel and speeding.
The drivers were then invited to watch a short road safety DVD and received an explanation about the dangers of their actions.
Sergeant Andy Delooze, of Runcorn Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “Cheshire Police is working in partnership with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service to get the message across that we will not tolerate drivers who choose to ignore the rules of the road.
“We will be carrying out a number of these driver engagement and education days across the area and the aim is to make drivers aware of the possible consequences of their actions.
“We want to make motorists more aware of how their driving impacts on others.”
