RUNCORN Linnets Football Club’s homecoming plans have taken another important step forward with a £10,000 injection from the Area Forum.
Now in its third season since formation, the club currently plays at Witton Albion FC in Wincham, Northwich, as there are no grounds of Vodkat League standard in Runcorn.
But the club, which rose from the ashes of Runcorn FC Halton, is generating support and fundraising for a prospective £500,000 HQ at Riverside College Runcorn campus.
Linnets need to find half the money for the proposed new facility which would have community facilities, including five-a-side pitches and a clubhouse.
Launched just eight months ago, the Return2Runcorn Ground Project has now brought in £73,500.
The club had already agreed a £40,000 deal with Thwaites, the Blackburn-based brewery, pub and hotel chain, for the bar and function room planned at Riverside.
