Waterfront regeneration scheme elects new chairman

A NEW chairman has been elected for the steering group which is driving the regeneration of Widnes Waterfront.

Paul Murphy, chief executive of Forum Tecknik+, will represent the businesses on the 200-acre estate at meetings with the council.

The Widnes Waterfront business steering group, set up in August 2008, aims to support local businesses, improve security and the appearance of the area, and to promote inter-trading.

The regeneration could create more than 2,700 jobs and the project is one of 124 economic development zones in the North West.
