CONCERN that residents who opposed the Mersey Gateway Crossing may lose their right to attend a public inquiry have been voiced by Halton Friends of the Earth.
Deni Newman, HFoE co-ordinator, said the planning process’s complex nature means people who objected at an earlier stage may be unable to speak at or attend the inquiry unless they take specific steps immediately.
She said they must explain in writing to the Government Office North West that they have objected, and register their attendance and right to representation at the inquiry.
She said: “We are worried that those residents who will be most affected may lose their right to speak out. If you do not act now you may not be able to speak or submit written evidence at the public inquiry.
“The TWA Orders Unit will ask for a ‘Statement of Case’ – basically a summary of your objections – to be submitted by November 11.
“This can be in the form of bullet points which you can expand upon and submit at a later date.”
Objectors should write to: Government Office North West, City Tower, Piccadilly Plaza, Manchester M1 4BE.
Quote the relevant planning application number(s) and head the letter “Mersey Gateway Project”.
For further advice on the procedure, write to: TWA Unit, Zone 9/09, Southside, 105 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6DT or phone 020 7944 3196.
