Soccer stars support borough’s charities

THREE international footballers have lent their support to some Halton charities.

Manchester United stars Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wes Brown all signed a special XXL football shirt which will be auctioned off in order to help raise funds for Mind and the Safe Women's Refuge.

Halton’s Mayor, Cllr Kath Loftus, said: “This is very generous of the football club and I am confident we can get a good price for it!”

The shirt, which will be sold at the Mayor's ball next year, was signed by the players, after councillor and Manchester United supporter, Bob Bryant, paid a visit to Old Trafford to receive physiotherapy.

To make a bid for the shirt e-mail kath.loftus@halton.gov.uk or call her directly on 01928 561019. Alternatively email bob.bryant@halton.gov.uk or call him on 01928 572587.
