A PLAN to shut St Chad’s Catholic High School in Runcorn and set up a new multi-faith school on the same site is likely to be approved at a meeting on Thursday afternoon.
The proposal is to discontinue the school on August 31, 2009, and create “St Chads Catholic/Church of England Voluntary Aided School” the following day.
The school’s admission number would rise by 20 pupils to 190 per year group from that date.
It would expand to 240 per year group when investment under the building schools for the future programme is complete.
The school would continue to provide a sixth form for 100 students.
The move aims to address the lack of CE schools in the borough which causes some pupils to be edcuated outside Halton.
