A PARLIAMENTARY under-secretary has praised a project in Runcorn to help children make the most of woodland.
Diana Johnson, Parliamentary under-secretary visited Windmill Hill and Haddock’s Wood last Thursday after she was invited by Mike Hall MP to see the Woodland Trust scheme for herself.
The project, run in conjunction with Runcorn primary schools, has been launched to encourage children to enjoy the natural environment while boosting their health and knowledge.
With Big Lottery funding The Woodland Trust has restored the woods, which were once blighted by extensive fly tipping, fire damage, motorcycle scrambling and the dismantling of stolen cars.
