THE SCALE of the police operation which brought down a Widnes prisoner’s drug empire has been revealed.
The Weekly News reported last week how George Moon, 62, originally of Greenway Road, had been sentenced to 18 years jail after he was caught plotting to import cocaine from South America.
Moon - who was already serving a 15 year sentence for drugs offences - had continued to run his gang from HMP Lindholme in Doncaster, using a mobile phone.
But an investigation led by the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) - which has been likened to a British FBI - and a prosecution order from the Attorney General, brought an end to his exploits.
