ANIMAL rights campaigners have slammed a supermarket giant for combusting meat at a Widnes rendering plant.
Vegetarians International Voice for Animals (VIVA) claimed Tesco is using green credentials to justify sending unsold meat to the Granox plant to produce energy.
A Viva spokesman said that “greed and indifference” means an excess of animals are killed, and that vegetarians would be horrified to learn that household energy came from a “macabre” process.
