Film-maker’s parents take a massive step for charity

THE crusading parents of a promising film student whose life was cut short by cancer could be in line for the Your Champions 2009 Team award.

Ken and Eileen Cannon, originally of Runcorn but now of Lower House Lane, Widnes, set up Milewalk Fundraisers two years ago after their son Paul died of Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The charity, set up at his request, raised £11,000 last year alone towards improving respite and finding alternative therapies.

The group’s most recent donation was £2,000 to the Delamere Centre at Halton Hospital.

Paul, 28, had attended the New York Film Academy and won distinctions for ‘best film’ and ‘best film score’ in his first year at Edge Hill University.

He had his films showcased at the Cannes and German film festivals and was posthumously awarded a first-class honours degree.

The former O2 employee was diagnosed two weeks before starting his dream course at the age of 26, and finished the final year from his hospital bed.
