Widnes rugby ace and TV presenter marry in Cumbria
Widnes rugby ace Richie Myler has wed former Blue Peter stunner Helen Skelton.
The couple, who have been together since 2011, tied the knot at Kirkby Thore’s St Michael’s church in the TV presenter’s childhood village near Penrith in Cumbria.
The 30-year-old arrived at the church in a black Range Rover and was greeted by a crowd of well-wishers from the local village.
Before the event started Helen, who now fronts BT Sport, tweeted: “In awe of (how) helpful my friends, family and community are being about the wedding.
“They have sorted stuff I haven’t thought of!”
She previously said: “We’ve hired a big house for the reception, we’ve both got big families – so we’re just having a house party. The church is where all my family were christened and where my gran was a church organist.”
Helen walked into the church wearing a sleeveless white long-lace wedding dress which had a silver satin belt around the waist. she wore her hair in a retro-style up-do, replete with lace veil and a beaded headband finishing off the look with silver peep-toe heels.
She carried a floral bouquet of white poppies and roses. Helen’s three bridesmaids wore matching dark sequin maxi dresses with capped sleeves as they carried the back of Helen’s dress for her.
Myler kept it simple with a black suit, white shirt and bow tie.
Helen, who left Blue Peter in September, has previously revealed she would like to have children. She said: “I’d love to have babies one day. I couldn’t have done Blue Peter and have kids at the same time. I’d have about four kids.”
