THE work of one of the world’s greatest and most popular writers Charles Dickens is being celebrated in a new show.
The team that produced the sell-out Tales From Haunted Liverpool series returns with Tales From Charles Dickens, featuring excerpts from the author’s most popular works including Oliver, Great Expectations and Hard Times. St George’s Hall’s concert room in Liverpool – a venue which Dickens himself loved – hosts the production, which forms part of Dickens 2012, an international celebration of his life and work marking the bicentenary of his birth.
Adapted and directed by Jen Heyes, the world-famous tales will be performed and read by four actors.
She said: “We are going to really enjoy bringing some of Dickens’s classic stories to life in a space that he himself stated was ‘a perfect venue’.
“Tis is a guaranteed wonderful half-term Easter family treat.”
The opulent concert room at St George’s Hall will set the scene for the atmospheric and dramatic storytelling, delivered in the format of the previous Tales From... productions through readings, songs, sound effects and theatrical performance that use every inch of the room.
The show runs from April 12-13, and tickets priced £12-£14 – and half price for children – can be booked on 0844 800 0400.
