AN UP-AND-COMING rock band who have won widespread praise from industry insiders are set to play in Runcorn.
The Antix , a group of five former school friends from West Yorkshire, have been lined up for a gig at The Underground as part of a 10-date tour.
Described as sounding like “Jefferson Airplane at their very best” by one website, the group consists of Grace Bickerton (lead vocals) Will Groves (bass) Malik Thomas (rhythm guitar) Matthew Archer (lead guitar) and Daniel Daley (drums).
The band say their influences range from Deep Purple, through Kings Of Leon and No Doubt.
A spokeswoman for the band said: “The Antix are exciting because they can’t be pigeonholed.
“Pounding rhythms are married to emotionally charged vocals, soaring guitar lines and an array of sounds and noises that create a dense whole that still gets under your skin.
“On stage Grace is pure electric with a vast vocal range and piercing looks. On guitar, Mat and Malik are like a seesaw on an axis and Will’s bass sounds almost too soul to be rock, but it is! Then we have the animal on drums, Daniel.”
The Antix appear at The Underground, High Street, Runcorn, on November 14. For ticket details and more information visit www.myspace.com/theantixuk.
