AWARD-WINNING folk singer and songwriter Ralph McTell is heading to the Brindley this month and the Weekly News has got two tickets to give away.
The multi-talented star is perhaps best known for his 1974 single Streets of London, which has been covered by more than 200 artists around the globe.
And in a career spanning four decades, the acoustic guitar and piano-playing soloist has picked up both an Ivor Novello Award and a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award for his songwriting.
McTell had humble beginnings as a performer and began busking around Europe from an early age.
He later became a fixture on the Cornish folk circuit while living in a caravan during the mid-60s.
McTell has won a reputation as a consummate entertainer whose songs are marked by observations of the human condition.
He comes to the Runcorn venue on Friday, October 24, from 8pm. Tickets are £14 with £12 concessions. For more information call 0151 907 8360 or visit www.thebrindley.org.uk
